Sunny Skies, Southern Hospitality, and a Productive Trip to Knoxville

Robyn Sztyndor Goes to Knoxville

After weeks of watching the weather forecast like a hawk, I’m happy to report that my work trip to Knoxville turned out to be everything I hoped for; plus a little extra.

First and foremost: sunny skies!
For a South Florida attorney bracing herself for real winter, avoiding a snowstorm felt like a small victory. While the temperatures were still far from beach weather, the sunshine made all the difference. I was grateful not to be navigating icy sidewalks or delayed flights. Especially knowing how unpredictable winter travel can be.

The work itself took place in one of the most impressive settings I’ve seen on a client trip: the Howard H. Baker Jr. United States Courthouse. The building is both beautiful and historic, with an atmosphere that immediately commands respect. There’s something grounding about working in a space with that much history. It’s a reminder of the seriousness of the work and the responsibility that comes with it.

Beyond the meetings, what really stood out was how friendly and welcoming everyone was. From courthouse staff to people I met around town, Knoxville has a warmth to it that’s hard to miss. It feels like a place where community still matters.

And for a city anchored by a major university, Knoxville has the best kind of energy. It’s a college town, but one that balances history, culture, and fun effortlessly. Great food, lively streets, and that unmistakable buzz that comes from being surrounded by students, professionals, and long-time locals all at once.

Trips like this are a good reminder that legal work isn’t always confined to familiar surroundings. Sometimes it means stepping into new cities, adapting quickly, and appreciating the places your work takes you. Even when they come with colder weather than you’re used to.

I left Knoxville feeling grateful: for productive meetings, kind people, and a smooth trip that didn’t involve battling a winter storm. All in all, a successful visit. A great way to keep 2026 moving in the right direction.
