Thanksgiving, Take out and Time Well Spent

Thanksgiving has always been one of my favorite holidays. The food, the family, and the feeling of finally being able to slow down for a few days is always welcomed. Not to mention the shopping. You know I LOVE me a good Black Friday deal!

Let’s be honest, between running Physicians Law, P.A., building Healthcare Trial Experts, and, well, life; I don’t exactly have hours to spend in the kitchen anymore.

A few years ago, I decided to do something radical: I started ordering Thanksgiving dinner. The truth is that it's been life-changing.

Instead of juggling roasting times and oven space, I get to focus on what actually matters, spending time with family and friends. The house still smells amazing (thank you Pumpkin Chai candle from NEST New York), the food still tastes incredible, and no one has to know the mashed potatoes came from a very skilled caterer. Our little secret.

Growing up, mashed potatoes and potatoes au gratin were my ultimate Thanksgiving favorite. YES, I was a carb lover from the start. Lately, however, I’ve become a green bean casserole and stuffing girl. There’s just something about that crispy onion topping and buttery bread cubes that feels like Thanksgiving on a plate.

Of course, before any of that, I always sneak in a long pre-Thanksgiving workout; part stress relief, part preparation for what’s coming later. There’s nothing like an extra 30 minutes on the treadmill to make that second (or third) scoop of pumpkin pie ice cream taste even better.

This year, I’m grateful for simplicity, for laughter around the table, and for the reminder that sometimes the best traditions are the ones you create for yourself.

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours — whether you’re cooking from scratch, ordering in, or just showing up for dessert. 🥧
